I believe one of the most traumatic crises facing the world today is the destruction of societies and cultures — and, as a consequence, the great migrations that follow.
Wars, political violence, and the ruthless exploitation of natural resources put entire communities and ethnic groups at risk, forcing them into vast displacements in search of safety and the posibility of a new life elsewhere.
In the Midst of Dreams is a gathering of faces–sculpted in alabaster, drawn from diverse origins— engaged in dialogue among large, unhewn blocks of stone. Together, they speak of searching and rebuilding, of life and of light.
Despite the suffering that comes with loss and displacement, humanity carries within it a profound power: the power to cast light into the darkness, to illuminate those left with nothing, to shine a path forward, and to fill our lives with hope.
