"La Llotja and Jaume Plensa – this is an encounter that is very special. Symbolically, the artist ranges equally between past and future – and, of course, within the present – in a place that over the course of the last 600 years has experienced tremendous things. La Llotja is the former commodities exchange, at the time a mirror of economic as well as societal conditions. With the exhibition “Mirall” Jaume Plensa reflects upon the present issues from his perspective, employing solely two stainless steel sculptures as symbols, placed back-to-back inside La Lonja, where they, if you will, act as power units, charging up this space with body and soul, light and darkness, opacity and transparency, past and future."
