HERNING DOORS, 2019
Herning, Denmark
On a route through Herning City, starting from HEART Museum of Contemporary Art, through the pedestrian street, and finally ending at Herning Textile Museum, 21 aluminium doors have been placed by artist Jaume Plensa, with the help of Herning Kommune, on the walls of Herning. Each door has been engraved with The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, section by section on each door. To read the whole declaration, one must find all the doors to complete the text.
Herning Doors is part of Socle du Monde’s Scene 3 – The Present, which is about leaning from the past and accepting the future within the present, learning from the past to build the present.
Use the interactive Google Maps route and find the locations of all the doors.
